On his inaugural working visit to the Memre Buku Barracks, Minister Uraiqit Ramsaran immediately embarked on a trajectory to strengthen the foundations of the armed forces. Instead of ceremonial speech, he chose to focus on the core of his office: the personnel. The coming period will therefore be marked by capacity expansion, improvement of working conditions and a thorough upgrade of working conditions, the Defense Ministry reported.
Discussions with staff and men revealed that for years the backlogs in organization and resources had inhibited motivation and commitment. Ramsaran acknowledges that commitments made earlier have not always been met, and now sees room for a systematic approach that focuses on recognition and commitment. He is therefore announcing a series of internal training and appreciation programs so that soldiers are not only equipped with modern equipment, but also feel truly supported in their daily tasks.
During an extensive tour of the barracks, the minister got a clear picture of operational bottlenecks: from logistical shortages to the need for better legal status arrangements. Commander Werner Kioe A Sen emphasized that this direct dialogue reduces the gap between policy making and execution. He expressed the expectation that, with this strategic reorientation, the armed forces can once again live up to their role as a reliable guardian of national security.
With the visit, Ramsaran emphasizes not only material reinforcement, but also the restoration of trust within the ranks. The minister is thus laying the foundation for a defense policy in which professional growth and societal appreciation go hand in hand.
