Four Surinamese students completed their medical training in Cuba early this month. Chanice Rowlins, Surilva Warsosemito, Avinash Hanoeman and Raysherie Mohadin received their medical degrees after studies at the universities of medical sciences in Villa Clara, Santiago de Cuba and La Habana. Rowlins and Warsosemito completed their seven-year training primarily in Santiago and Villa Clara provinces, while Mohadin and Hanoeman completed their training in Havana.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cooperation (BIS) reports that the graduates are excited about their return to Suriname and determined to contribute to local health care. Another 15 Surinamese medical students will complete their studies in Cuba in October.
During the ceremonies, attended by international students and university representatives, Ambassador Wendy Paulus-Aminta and her first secretary were also present to present the diplomas. This group of doctors will soon return with fresh knowledge and international experience to strengthen Suriname's healthcare sector.
