With the kickoff of Operation Delta Force, the Suriname Police Force (KPS) is launching an unprecedented offensive against violent criminal networks. Since its launch on April 12, targeted intelligence operations and brusque intervention have already cleared 99 suspects, including 20 over the past fortnight.
The large-scale nationwide offensive was specifically designed to crack down on perpetrators of armed robberies, street robberies and other serious property crimes. Intensive analysis of case files and tips from the community enabled on-call field teams to strike time and again and arrest perpetrators in the act.
Chief of Police Bryan Isaacs stressed that his units patrol tirelessly and never slack off for a moment. "Our mobile arrest teams are on standby day and night. We do not evade these criminal gangs; we remove them from anonymity," Isaacs states firmly.
The recent arrests come amid a visible increase in incidents, with even schools and young families not spared. Although further operational details are still being kept behind closed doors, the KPS assures that additional capacity is being released to stop the escalating violence.
Citizens are urged to report suspicious situations immediately via 115 or the KPS app. Only with active cooperation between the public and law enforcement can crime in Suriname be cut off.
