The portal acts as a digital gathering point where users can easily view all open contracts, be instantly notified of new tenders and tender calls, and see which companies are already active within the oil and gas sector. Da Silva emphasized that it is not just a showcase, but a targeted tool that concretely enables Surinamese companies to participate, qualify and get a foot in the door. For example, a local transportation company proudly told how it managed to win a contract through the platform despite strict selection criteria.
This digital counter is central to TotalEnergies' "local content" strategy, which consists of three pillars. First, the company invests in talent development by working with universities and vocational schools to create training programs, supported by government and contract partners. Second, TotalEnergies supports local suppliers with coaching sessions and audit programs to help them meet international quality standards and remain competitive. Finally, the company maps all local capabilities-from waste management to logistics services-to keep the chain in Suriname as much as possible and outsource work to local contractors.
More than 180 Surinamese companies are now working on GranMorgu. In the exploratory phase, TotalEnergies has invested $150 million in the local economy and created 450 jobs, with 22 permanent employees of which 60% are female. When production begins in 2028, the company expects the project to create about 6,000 jobs and circulate $1 to $1.5 billion locally annually. "At the time the FPSO arrives, everything-except the float itself-is already unloaded, stored and processed in Paramaribo," da Silva explained.
For da Silva, the online portal is indispensable for making all these opportunities visible and accessible. "Anyone looking for work or wanting to grow their business will find the right entry point through our digital counter. Everyone deserves a fair chance."
