Some observers claim that the energy has gone out of the crypto market. Instead, the latest numbers and on-chain indicators show that we are just at the beginning of what analysts call Bull Run 3.0. Behind the scenes, a powerful interplay of institutional inflows, corporate treasury strategies, macroeconomic hedging and technological innovations is building that could soon cause the price of Bitcoin, Ethereum and a wide selection of altcoins to explode parabolically.
Before you continue reading, the article Bull Run 3.0 is not financial advice. This is my own observation, investing in crypto is very risky, DYOR before you invest, this article is not for financial advice.
In May, net inflows into spot crypto-ETFs reached a new record of over €6.5 billion, well surpassing the December 2024 peak. Large asset managers like BlackRock and Fidelity have now pumped more than $10 billion into Bitcoin and Ethereum through their iShares and Fidelity vehicles. These huge inflows are like liquid rocket fuel, driving liquidity and demand in the market to unprecedented levels.
At the same time, we are seeing an increasingly broad acceptance of Bitcoin as part of corporate treasury. More than sixty publicly traded companies ranging from gaming companies to media houses have collectively held over $11 billion in Bitcoin as of April 2025. This "Bitcoin Treasury" trend not only gives corporations additional buying pressure in the market, but also provides them with an appealing narrative to shareholders and analysts: a hedge against the dwindling purchasing power of fiat currency and an alternative return potential that transcends traditional investments.
Even at the macro level, the picture is unchanged in favor of digital assets. As the U.S. dollar loses its luster and interest rates rise, investors are looking for a "store of value." Bitcoin's steady supply of 21 million coins and Ethereum's deflationary EIP-1559 mechanism reinforce the narrative of "digital gold. In an era when central banks continue to tirelessly reprint, this digital scarcity is gaining irresistible appeal.
On the technology front, Ethereum has successfully rolled out the Pectra upgrade and the adoption of layer-2 networks has increased exponentially. Thanks to zk-rollups and Optimistic Bridges, throughput per second has increased dramatically and transaction costs have fallen sharply. This has led to a total value of more than $30 billion currently tied up in DeFi protocols. Yield-hungry investors from the well-known whales to retailers are reaping the benefits of this through strike, liquidity mining and loans with double-digit APYs.
Finally, the ETF truck continues unabated: the US SEC now has more than 70 applications for spot ETFs pending, and European exchanges are listing new offerings of ETCs ranging from leveraged to inverse and multi-asset strategies. Once altcoins such as Solana, Cardano, XRP and Avalanche make their appearance in institutional mandates, an altseason lies ahead that will flood markets with new capital flows.
In short, whether you're a seasoned HODL'er or just starting out in crypto, the fundamentals point in one direction: up. With record-breaking ETF inflows, corporate treasury allocations, macro hedges and pioneering upgrades, the virtual fuel is, if anything, even more potent. The ride of Bull Run 3.0 is about to begin, and it may well be the most spectacular yet. Get ready and keep your hardware wallet at the ready: the crypto market's next explosion is just beginning.
