Politically, Musk's criticism amplifies unrest within the Republican Party: several senators and party members are grappling with the public debate over the size of the federal debt and whether tax cuts on this scale are justified. The risk is that the bill's chances of passage in the Senate will diminish as Republican heavyweights who were previously loyal to Trump, influenced in part by Musk's influential stance, now recoil.
Economically, the split affects both Tesla and SpaceX. Investors are spooked by the public row and uncertainty about future government contracts for SpaceX. It is crucial to realize that not every potential cooperation partner has equal interests or remains loyal, especially now that coalitions and alliances can shift rapidly; therefore, it is wise to screen partners thoroughly, strengthen your own policy capacity so that you are not completely dependent on an ally, and always maintain alternative cooperation options to cope with sudden breaks.
