On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, Jagernath Lachmon Street will be temporarily closed due to the inauguration of Jennifer Geerlings-Simons and Gregory Russia as President and Vice President at the Anthony Nesty Sports Hall. As of midnight, only local traffic will apply within the area from the traffic circle at Lachmon Street to Leysweg. This measure will remain in effect until eight o'clock Wednesday morning, after which the entire area will be completely closed until the ceremony is over. Peddlers will also be denied access in the safety zone.
Local residents and road users are asked to be mindful of detours and follow police directions carefully. By using alternative routes, they can avoid inconveniences during the inauguration period as much as possible.
On Wednesday afternoon around two o'clock, a second round of detour will take effect, this time around the Presidential Palace due to the swearing-in of the new Council of Ministers. Henck Arron Street, Great Combé Road and Van Rooseveltkade at the corner with Kleine Waterstraat will then be temporarily closed. Again, peddlers are not allowed and road users are asked to choose alternative routes to continue their journeys.
