Meanwhile, the 2025 budget is under heavy political and public scrutiny. The eleven comma five billion SRD deficit requires a clear coverage plan while about half of expenditures go on salaries and interest and principal payments. The budgets for Court of Justice and Prosecution increased sharply due to retroactive provisions but higher costs do not guarantee better performance. Diplomatic lines are meanwhile being tightened. Minister of Finance and Planning Adelien Wijnerman spoke with China's new ambassador Lin Ji and Dutch ambassador Walter Oostelbos. With both partners there are opportunities in such areas as trade fisheries fisheries traffic management education digitalization healthcare and tourism including connecting cultural heritage to a more modern service cluster. The carbon credits file requires specialized expertise and institutional strengthening.
