Today, Washington D.C. was marked by a historic moment for Suriname: Albert Ramdin officially took the oath there as Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the period 2025-2030. In the atmospheric convention hall of the OAS headquarters, Ramdin former Deputy Secretary General and since 2020 Suriname's Minister of Foreign Affairs took over the torch from his Uruguayan predecessor. Albert Ramdin maintains close ties with both the CARICOM countries and the Andean community, allowing him to support concrete projects that promote Suriname's growth potential. Under his leadership, these include improved market access for Surinamese exports, expanded infrastructure financing and knowledge exchange in the areas of sustainable agriculture and mining technologies.
